트러스트마스터 공홈의 6/6 소식에 따르면, 트러스트마스터와 MS는 xbox 360 및 xbox one 에 대한 주변기기 장기 파트너쉽 계약을 맺었다고 합니다.

Sony 는 기존에 여러 3rd party 업체와 파트너쉽 계약을 체결해오고 있었습니다만, MS의 경우 주변기기에 대해서는 폐쇄적인 정책을 가지고 있었는데요. 이번 트러스트마스터 및 매드캣츠와의 계약이 exclusive 계약일지 open 으로 가려는 초석의 계약일지는 좀더 두고 봐야 할듯 합니다.

일반적으로 저정도의 장기 계약 성사까지는 얼마만큼의 R&D 투자를 xbox one 의 주변기기 제품을 위해 투자하겠다 등의 condition 이 따라오게 되기때문에, 역으로 트러스트 마스터에서는 그 외 업체들이 만들지 못하도록 (파나텍, 로지텍, 등) exclusive 계약을 맺고자 했을텐데요. 하지만, 트러스트 마스터 외 Mad Catz 도 5월에 이미 xbox one 주변기기에 대한 파트너쉽 계약을 체결한것으로 보여집니다. (아래 링크)

파나텍의 경우 아직까지 xbox 360 외 xbox one 에 대해서는 지원 계약을 맺지 못하고 있는것으로 예상됩니다. 그렇지만 트러스트 마스터 외 매드캣츠 까지 파트너쉽을 체결한것으로 미루어 볼때, 기존 보다는 유연한 주변기기 지원 정책을 가져가지 않을까 생각이 되네요.
